Doris Ward Workforce Development Program
Created in 2023 by Jackie Wright, this initiative was born out of her deep commitment to supporting the community of Black women facing unemployment. And named in Honor of National Coalition of 100 Black Women board member Doris Ward, the first African American woman to be elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977.

Meet Karen Johnson, the Program Director for the Doris Ward Workforce Development Program. With over 15 years of experience in the financial industry, Karen has excelled in roles ranging from Operations and Business Development to Senior Management, where she provided strategic advice and direction. Her deep understanding of the importance of empowering individuals to achieve success makes her an exceptional leader for this program.
